AZLA/ PAL Fall Conference and Symposium, October 5th–6th, 2007
Hosted at Pima Community College-Downtown Campus Tucson, Arizona


All Arizona K-16 second language educators are invited to attend a special joint conference that will emphasize the significance of learning and improving second language teaching at the elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels.  Concurrent sessions will offer professional development in topics that affect the teaching and learning of second languages in Arizona.  Hands-on workshops will be available: Friday morning pre-session and Saturday afternoon.   AAT networking sessions will allow AZ language associations to disseminate key information of ongoing and future activities within their associations.  The keynote speaker will be Cindy Sizemore.  More information on her will be forthcoming soon.

    Keynote Speaker for Fall 2007 Symposium and Conference

    Cindy Holderman Sizemore is a two-time graduate of the University of Arizona. She attained her Bachelor's Degree in 1991 with majors in both German and Russian. In 1993 she completed her Master's Degree in German Literature and Foreign Language Pedagogy. Ms. Sizemore taught German for 6 years at Abbie Loveland Tuller School to students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. While in Tucson, Ms. Sizemore piloted the textbook Aurelia, was the German resource editor for FLES News.

     In 2004 Ms. Sizemore was honored with the Promoting Multilingual Communities Award by the Two-Way California Association for Bilingual Educators. Ms. Sizemore was selected as Del Valle High School’s Teacher of the Year and went on to be chosen as the Ysleta ISD Secondary Teacher of the Year for 2006 -2007. Ms. Sizemore is a frequent presenter at foreign language, bilingual and immersion conferences across the country and continues to be a strong advocate for multilingual education for all children.
